How to create a podcast – easy steps

If you want to start your own french podcast, and have it published on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, etc., you’ll want to follow these steps:

  1. Record your audio using a microphone connected to your computer, tablet, or phone. (If recording a guest remotely, use Riverside, SquadCast, or Zencastr)
  2. Edit your audio using software like GarageBand, Descript, or Audacity on the PC.
  3. Export your finished audio as an MP3.
  4. Sign up for a podcast hosting service: Transistor, Simplecast, and Libsyn are some of the top options.
  5. Configure a new podcast on your hosting provider: give your podcast a name and a description. Make sure you select "French" as the spoken language, so that Apple Podcasts other directories put you in their french language section.
  6. Upload your MP3 to your podcast hosting provider.
  7. Your podcast hosting platform will generate a podcast-ready RSS feed for you. Example: feeds.transistor.fm/build-your-saas
  8. Submit your podcast to the various directories and players (Apple, Spotify, Google). You can find a list here. You only need to do this once!
  9. Now, when you publish your episode on your hosting platform, it will update your podcast’s RSS feed.

  10. The directories and podcast apps (like Apple Podcasts) will detect when you have a new episode in your RSS feed, and will automatically update.
